Liftinstituut has certified the AVA Modular Lift by ARX, part of Kinetic Solutions Group (KSG). Bryan Robinson, Business Unit Director at ARX stated, “I cannot thank Liftinstituut enough for their assistance and guidance throughout the certification process. This is an unbelievably significant milestone for ARX as a company. We could not have done it without you all.” Read the story about a unique lift product and the certification process.
Lift system for rapid deployment at rail stations
The installation of lift systems on Network Rail sites often poses significant logistical challenges, with traditional lift systems requiring an extensive period of time on site for assembly, installation and testing. The AVA Modular Lift is a traction belt passenger lift system capable of being installed on site as a pre-assembled unit. ARX has engineered the modular lift system for rapid deployment at rail stations across the UK and beyond. The complete unit, including the steel structure, drives, guiderails, counterweight and car, can be safely laid down horizontally, allowing it to be transported by road to the installation site. This flexibility and convenience in scheduling lift installations enables seamless integration into various infrastructure projects.
The AVA Modular Lift can be deployed alongside both new and existing footbridges and was designed to meet the needs of Network Rail’s ‘Access for All Programme’ in the UK. ‘Access for All’ aims to provide step free access to railway platforms at more than 300 urban and rural stations, helping to keep the rail network accessible to all, including disabled users, people with prams and pushchairs and cyclists.
Comprehensive examination
The certification process was managed by Liftinstituut product specialist Eric Verkaik. The project began with an on-site feasibility study, which concluded that an EU-Type
Examination was both viable and necessary. Following this assessment, Liftinstituut conducted a comprehensive examination, ensuring the AVA Modular Lift met all the requirements of the Lifts Directive 2014/33/EU.
